Engine Mechanical problem
1991 Lexus LS 400 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 124000 miles

I had the catalytic converters replaced on my car and they still were turning cherry red, then the mechanic suggested I have the coil replaced that lasted about three days and then the convereters started turning red again, took it back. The coil had burned out. The mechanic suggested new plugs or a tune up. What could be causing the coil to burn out? And will a tune-up help this problem?
