2004 Lexus GX 470 Wastes too much gas

2004 Lexus GX 470 V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 125000 miles
I would like to know why my Lexus uses so much gas. It has a 23 gallon tank and only gives me about 225 miles to the tank. This car is 4 wheel drive. I read that 4 wheel drive vehicles waste a lot of gas. Can I set my vehicle to only use 2 wheel drive? is this possible?

You can't convert your car to 2 wheel drive, what you should do first is run a diagnostic scan and check for any set fault codes, star here.
