2001 Lexus GS 430 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 120,00 miles
I recently had a check engine light and error code leading to a bad knock sensor Bank #1. Can you tell me what a knock sensor is and what causes this problem? Is it related to gasoline Octane?

Knock sensor detects engine pinging and adjusts timing to stop. Octane not likely if your using manufacture recomended grade. Code sets when sensor fails. What was code in P0xxx format?
