1993 Lexus GS 300 rack and pinion boot replacement
Steering problem

Dear Sir;
Thank you for entertaining my question. I have tried to replace the passenger side boot ( the side with the steering damper ) on my rack, and thought the best way was to take apart the joint right where the damper attaches to the rack, instead of starting with the tie rod and working forward. This avoids having to readjust the tie rod. Iis this a good idea? Well, I can't even get the large retaining nut loose ( I had to make a wrench large enough to fit ) Does the retaing nut turn in the usual counter clockwise direction? Please help .
thank you
