2004 Land Rover Freelander Pulling away in first

2004 Land Rover Freelander 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual 55000 miles
When I first start my engine and pull away in first there seem to be a dragging back from the rear wheels. This lasts about 1 second and is then OK both through the gears and any other times when I have to stop and pull away in first, it only happens the first time you pull away.

check the parking brake is releasing correctly !
