I just got a gmc 3500 it runs fine at low rpms but when I get in to the throttle it starts to knock then sputter. I adjusted the valves and timing but it still does the same thing. Im trying to avoid pulling my motor completely apart due to im in alaska and its almost winter and dont have a garage but im thinking a bad lifter or bent rod or loose timing chain

Knocks are hard to diagnose here big block or small block? If a big block check number 6 plug wire for being bad. Ithen short out cylinders to see if you can make knock go away. If it does then it's either a rod bearing or piston problem.
