I would like to know where the fuel filter is located on a 1998 Kia Sephia 1.8 Liter 4 Cyl. I've been having issues with my engines performance and I beliueve that it is somewhere in the fuel system. Location and removal procedures would be greatly appreciated!

Fuel filter is located under hood, center, rear engine area, mounted on upper firewall

REMOVAL:

Relieve the fuel system pressure.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Disconnect the fuel lines from both ends of the fuel filter. Plug the lines to prevent leakage.
Remove the bracket retaining nuts and bolts, as necessary.
Remove the filter and the mounting bracket.

INSTALLATION:

Install the filter in the mounting bracket.
Connect the fuel lines to the filter.
Install the bracket nuts and tighten to 9.5 ft. lbs. (13 Nm) for 1.5L, 1.6L, 1.8L and 2.0L engines. For 2.4L engines, torque the nuts to 18-25 ft. lbs. (25-35 Nm).
Connect the negative battery cable.
Run the engine and check for any fuel leaks.
