What does it mean when the check engne light comes on. I have had a new engine put in at 60000 miles and the belts have been changed to. Is this a major think? Please let me know. jhermann@osceola.org

The engine light will come on if there is an electrical problem, sensor, engine misfire, emissions problem... What the light indicates is there is a trouble code stored in the computer. What I recommend is to take the car to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for codes. Most stores will do it for free, so three is no money out of pocket for you and you'll know why the light came on.

Let me know what you find.
