Can a thunderstorm mess with my car engine or battery/alternator? We had a storm today and my check engine light came on and my car dies for a few seconds every once in a while and it hasnt done this since the last time we had a major storm. And only for the day.

The storm doesn't seem like the problem, but rather the moisture that comes with it. What I need you to try is this. When it is dark out, start the engine and open the hood. Mist water on all electrical components to see if there is any arcing. Something is getting wet and causing the problem for you.

Let me know what you find.
