Engine Mechanical problem
2001 Kia Optima 55000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday my car stopped at a red light and would not start back up. The tow truck driver told me most likely it was my alternator. My question is how much such I expect to pay to have it replaced on my 2001 Kia Optima. I do not want to get ripped off. Any advise you can give would be helpful. Thanks, Yolanda (MsYPT@yahoo.com)

list price for alternator is 209 dollars and it takes 1.8 hours labor to remove and replace. you might have to pay a diagnostic charge of .5 to 1 hours additional labor. hope this helps
