Just bought a project 91 YJ 4.0 with 155 000k, and it was running fine.

After a few days, the engine wouldn't start. It would turn over, but just woudln't fire. It seemed it would only start if I left it alone for abit. Now it won't catch at all.

I had just replaced the spark plugs, and had the battery checked. I thought it was the ignition coil, and replaced that, but no joy. Air filter is cleaned, and I tried dropping some gas in the carb aswell.

I think there was a problem with the master cylinder, would this have anything to do with it refusing to start?

Still havn't got the chance to check the plugs, but heres an update.

The ignition coil may have fixed the first problem. After that, I poured fresh gas in the carb, and it started, now it will start sometimes, and ill have to bum start it others.

No idea why it would start sometimes, and not others though. Not getting enough fuel? Or could it be old fuel still trying to run through it?
