I get error p1776 off and on.

Solenoid Switch Valve latched in left rear position.

Can you help me figure out what to look for? I'd like to at least have an idea of what I'm dealing with before I take it in for repairs if it's not something I can do myself.

Thanks.

Since this post and reply, I've had it in the same shop 4-5 times for the same issue.

1st time they replace the solenoid pack and thought that took care of it. The problem came back same code same symptoms, but when I took it back in they cleared the code and all was well. They could not recreate it.
Then it happened again, this time I noticed that the code came on then it wouldn't shift out of 3rd, but when I killed the engine and restarted it the car shifted fine. However the light stayed on. Took it to the shop and they cleared the code and couldn't find anything wrong.

The next time. Not only did the original symptoms start but this time it overheated. Took it in. They replace the cooling fan motor and cleared the codes.

After spending quite a bit of money now it's been 2 weeks and the same thing happened again today including the overheating.

Anyone have any idea what I am looking at? I took it to the same shop because I've always had good results from these guys and they have always done me right, but at this point I don't know what to do.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
