When I turn I hear a poping sound, my cv boot has been torn for a while. But now when I put my jeep in drive it makes the crackling poping sound now to, when in neutral the sound goe's away. Also in park on hill jeep will roll for some reason. Stays fine with emergency brake on tho. Is this just my cv joints are something else to. Also is it best to replace cv joints or whole cv assembely

Soudns to me like the axle finally went out.

Putting on the boot takes more work and it doesnt last as long as replacing the axle. Plus the joint may be fully worn out.

Replace teh axle assembly and it will save you money now and in the long run.
