1991 Jeep Laredo 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 279k miles

Why is my jeep "bogging out" when I step on the gas. Sound like a deep ~~BWAAHHHHH~~ sound, and the my power drops, no horses.

HAs the check engine light come on? Also, have you checked fuel pump pressure or for vacuum leaks? Finally, check the catylatic converter to make sure it isn't plugging.
