2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Transmission Trouble?

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 58000 miles
My Jeep has been having the same thing happening and I am being told nothing is wrong. When I start it in the morning and pull out, it jerks hard and drops into 3 gear. It will not go back into drive. It will shift into every other gear but drive. also the engine light comes on. when I shut it down and re-start it, its fine. Today it did it and the engine light did not go off. Got a code of P0700. The dealer said there were so many inatcive codes that they did not know what was wrong with it. Can you help? have you ran across this problem?
