A couple thousand miles since the rebuild, the engine will be running fine and then suddenly starts idling rough, doesn't want to rev above idle, loses power and backfires to the point that it's not driveable. Just as suddenly, the trouble will go away. This happens in hot or cold weather, and when the engine is cold or warmed up, it doesn't seem to matter.
