Engine Performance problem
1985 Jeep CJ7 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual 0

I just put a remanufactured 258ci engine in my Jeep. I have a 4bbl Holley and Offenhauser intake but everything else is stock. The engine runs a little rough. I have retorqued the intake bolts to spec and and have all the vacuum hoses in place or plugged. I get around 15-20 psi of vac at idle. I also give off a sweet exhaust smell. I have not really dabbled with fuel/air mix but im sure that has something to do with it. The carb has two mix screws. I have all new gas tank, fuel line, fuel pump and filter. So Im thinking it is a timing and vacuum issue. My question would be what else should I do to smooth the engine out?

Just because its Reman engine I'd check the engine compression just to be in the safe side.

Ignition components are they okay-if so try checking the ignition timing, balance your air/fuel mix, recheck for vacuum leak and check fuel pressure.
