I can't start my Grand Cherokee. When I put the key in the ignition I cannot rotate it forward to start the car. It will not rotate backwards either. Also, the passive steering lock which locks the steering wheel when the key is not in the ignition does not work. I can turn the steering wheel and it will not lock.

I had same problem. One of the tumblers in the ignition cylinder was stuck. Try some wd-40 and a small pick to free it up, it also may help to jiggle the key while its in the ignition. It may take some time to do this. Then go buy a new ignition cylinder cus, your gonna need it and its only gonna get worse. I had a Haynes manual to help with the removal. Remember this, it will save alot of time you need to turn the key and push the release button to be able to pull the cylinder out. I've done 2 of these my wifes and a friends and the biggest factor was getting the key to turn to the on position.
