Engine Mechanical problem
1997 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 154056 miles

My question is my 1997 jeep cherokee sport. I have had this vehicle for a month and i pulled up to a stop sign and it stalled on me and couldnt get it started again. i drove it today for roughly 20 minutes and then it started dieing again. it sounds like something is clogged in the engine or exhaust. i checked the air filter and it was clean, and im not much a mechanical person so i was wondering what the problem could be. i push on the throttle and smoke comes out exhaust and i can smell the gas but to me it sounds like its not getting enough gas to the engine to keep it going. thank you zach
