1994 Jeep Cherokee not getting any fuel.

1994 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 160000 miles
hi all, i have a 94 jeep chrokee. back last fall it ran out of gas here at home. i have put fuel in it several times and it still will not start, unless i keep pouring gas in the carb constantly. does anyone have any ideas. thanks. james

Hi wolfowner49. Welcome to the forum. Have you checked if the fuel pump is running? You should hear it hum for one second after turning on the ignition switch. If you don't hear it, bang on the bottom of the fuel tank while a helper cranks the engine. If the shock jolts it to start running, it will usually continue to run until the engine is stopped.
