Engine Cooling problem
1971 Jaguar XKE V12 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 48000 miles

the temperature is fine as long as i am out on open road but when i get stuck in traffice the fan does not come on and then the car temperature rises. is there a simple way i can check to see what is causing this problem?
