2002 Jaguar XK8 Repair Question

2002 Jaguar XK8 Roof hydraulic system
Interior problem
2002 Jaguar XK8 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 31000 miles
This past weekend I attempted to put the roof down in my convertible. When I hit the roof button green hydraulic fluid poured out of the headliner just below the roof latch assembly. The dealer is telling me they believe the hydraulic fluid "gelled" causing the line to split near the assembly. The repair involves replacing the line all the way back to the pump in the rear of the car. Seems to me there must be some spot wheer a cut can be made and new fittings added to replace only a section of the hydraulic line. At an estimated $2500-3000 forthis repair I am anxious to find an alternative.
