1994 Jaguar XJS key wont turn

Hi, I have a new batt. Only the ign. Key. Cant seem to get around the security syst. Car sat with no batt for two months.I did get the key to turn to on and crank it over. Didnt fully start. Tried to start again and the key wont move. Like before. Can I perm disarm? HELP. Thank you !

Not being able to turn the key should have nothing to do with the security system. Have you tried spaying down the key tumblers with a lube of some type. Please advise.

No I have not tried to lube. If key is starting to wear down. Where to get new key cut.I am in rural northern ny

A locksmith may be able to cut a new key to compensate for tumbler wear. The drawback is, the new key may not fit the door locks. The other option is to replace the key assembly, then you would have to carry 2 ignition keys. I have an '88 XJ6, and ran into the same problem. I opted to change key assemblies and carry an extra key.
