Engine Mechanical problem
2003 Jaguar XJ8 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 73000 miles

Hello,
The other day, I noticed an oil leak on my driveway about 9" in diameter about the center of the vehicle. I checked the oil and it was a little low so I added a quart and a half. Later after starting the vehicle, it ran for several minutes as I also noticed a high pitched whirring sound. Then the vehicle stalled, the engine stalled light flashed on and it shut off. I have tried to start it since then, but it will not crank. The fuel is low, about 1/8 of a tank but it normally cranks up just fine under those circumstances. There has been no smoke or odd odors of any kind, it just behaves in a manner I am not familiar with. Before I have it towed, I would like to have an idea as to what might be going on.
