1997 Jaguar XJ6 Transmission has hard down shift
Transmission problem
1997 Jaguar XJ6 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 94000 miles
I have a 1997 XJ6 that after driving a long distance for approx 2-3 hours it begins to have a hard shift and downshift but if I pull off the freeway and shutoff the engine and turn it back on it no longer does it the remainder of the trip until my return trip at which point i again pull off & shut it off & re-start, Is it the sensor?

Definitly is a problem with it.Best bet would be to have the PCM scanned to see if it has stored any codes for the transmission. If it is shifting harsh up and down when hot, it should see the problem and store a code that will lead to the source of the problem
