1988 Jaguar XJ6 Repair Question

1988 Jaguar XJ6 Car starts with Jump and runs but will not
Electrical problem
1988 Jaguar XJ6 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 102000 miles
I can jumpstart the car and disconnect the cables and it runs and everything works just fine. I turn it off...even if it has been running 1/2 hour or more, and it is 100% dead..no lights, no clicks with the key turned, nothing.
