Installation
Install camshaft bearings. Install camshaft with keyway in front flange pointing upward. Install and tighten bearing caps. Align camshaft using Timing Chain Gauge (C 3993). Install camshaft sprocket on camshaft and ensure that "fit" holes line up.
Secure camshaft sprocket to camshaft using 2 bolts and lock plates. Rotate engine until remaining holes are accessible. Install bolts and bend up lock plate tabs. Set timing chain tension by turning Timing Chain Adjuster (JD 2B) in a counterclockwise direction. Tighten lock nut.
Ensure that No. 6 (front) cylinder is at TDC (with pointer opposite "0" on timing scale) and recheck position of camshafts using Timing Gauge (C 3993). Reverse removal procedure to complete installation. Check tappet adjustment, ignition timing and perform exhaust emission test.
