Transmission problem
2006 Jaguar X-Type 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 163000 miles
I need some assistance. My car will not go faster than 20 miles per hour. It goes into drive and reverse fine, but will not get out of 2nd gear. When I switch it to the manual transmission, it will not go faster than 20 miles per hour either.
Secondly, my car wouldn't start. I got a jump start and it worked fine for 1 day. The next day I tried to start it and it wouldnt again. The battery says it is good for 7 more years still.
Is it possible I need a new transmission?
thank you,

you need to have the car plugged into a jaguar diagnostic system to retrieve the fault codes which will determine where the actual fault lies ?
