2001 Jaguar S-Type Repair Question
2001 Jaguar S-Type 2001 Jaguar S Type hesitates
2001 Jaguar S-Type 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 78,000 miles
My 2001 Jaguar S Type has no acceleration above 3k RPM when is in neutral. When running at 40MPH hesitates, above 45 -50 MPH runs smooth on a flat surface. Uphill at any speed starts hesitating. Engine light comes on but code won't register in the computer. Engine light goes off as soon as i reach a level surface or on a decline. I replaced the fuel filter and problem still exist. Any ideas as to what to check or what should be done to rectify the problem? Thanks
Answer
Lack of acceleration, chugging, hesitating, bogging etc. could be caused by one of the following below.
Inspect and test all the following listed below and get back with some results
Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
False air leakage.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.
Note:If it doesn't apply disregard.
Before going forward with the check list that you provided, I used the OBD II PocketScan Code Reader to diagnosed the car and i am not sure what the below results mean or what is telling me to do next. I wrote this down as it appeared on the screen. Any help will be appreciated.
