Hi my name is Peter I own a Jaguar S type 4.0 year 2000 98000 miles.
When the car is hot and I shift from park to drive the transmission will not always engage if I shift to 4 it will engage, then I shift to drive and it's ok.
The owners manual says the transmission is a sealed unit no fluid levels to check for the lifetime of the unit what do you suppose is going on?

Thanks,
Peter

Powertrain Control Module
The operation of the transmission is controlled by the powertrain control module. Many input sensors provide information to the powertrain control module. The powertrain control module then controls the actuators which determine transmission operation.

The vehicle needs to be plugged into a diagnostic computer to locate the cause of the fault !
