I am working on a 2002 XJ-8 that has the restricted performance light on. I get the P1000 code and four injector fault codes P0201 etc if I remember right. Scan tool shows it is the air leak or MAF sensor. How do you check the Maf sensor without the special tool? Refrence voltage=? Ohms=? Why do Jaguars drop half their cylinders if there is a problem? To protect the Cat. Converter from being damaged?
Thanks

To check the Maf sensor without the special tool you must measure the ground while the car is running(with a multi metre). If it gets oil from the from the pvc system the maf sensor is faulty. However it could be electrical in few cases. Why do Jaguars drop half their cylinders if there is a problem? Yes, To protect the Converter from being damaged also other things. Good luck!

We tried a MAF sensor and it did not help. Tried running fuel injector cleaner and exchanged coils (side to side) to see if fault would move. Found out the a Jaguar dealer replaced all injectors. It has to be something simple. Codes P0201, P0204, P0206, P0207 and P1000.
Thanks
