I am looking to buy an Isuzu Rodeo, and had just a few quick questions about them. The one I am looking at seems to have been driven on an empty tank and sucked up some sediments on the bottom of the gas tank? Would that make the engine not run very smoothly or at all because it is fuel injected? The owner says that is the deal, but I cannot be too sure. The Craigslist ad is here: http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/2032248090.html, and I was wondering if that story seems accurate? How much would it cost to fix this? Also, are Isuzus a reliable SUV to own? Any opinions on this? I really want a Japanese SUV that is cheap, and Isuzu seems to fit the categories but for what consequence? Let me know what you would do in this case, or perhaps even hop on Seattle Craigslist and find me one? ;) Thanks!

Hello and thanks for donating

The Isuzu Rodeo and specifically the 1998 - 2004 models have actually gotten quiet poor consumer reviews. The average rating is around 7 out of 10. Most of the complaints tend to lean toward comfort issues over dependability though As for the fuel issue, when the vehicle ran out of fuel it did pull out dirt/sediment from the bottom of the tank. This has clogged and fuel filter and possibly the injectors as well. The fuel filter will need replaced and some good fuel injector cleaner such as STP brand ran throught the fuel system. Honestly I stick with US built but people do seem to have a heart for Japanese made vehicles anymore but I would go with a Toyota before I would Isuzu, just my personal opinion.
