Grinding/growling noise underneath my car

I have a Trooper LS, 2.8 ltr...It makes a growling noise once it starts to warm up, coming from transmission/transfer case area. I forgot to tell you in my previous question--the check engine light comes on at speeds over 40 mph, and the seller told me it needed a transmission speed sensor (I haven't had code read yet to make sure). Could this have anything to do with the growling/grinding noise?
