Is it the tranny or a sensor?

Drove the car with no issues for hours, stopped at a red light when I went to go the car did nothing but rev the engine. Tried puting it in all gears but nothing. Won't move even a little bit.
* automatic frontwheel drive. V6

These transmissions (if it's the VTi version) have an unbelieveable rep of failure!

There has been a settlement with GM on these, but I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope.

You can find some of these at salvage yards however, they may very well have the same problem as yours; so that's taking a chance.

Call a local transmission shop just to get an idea of what it would cost to get this thing fixed.

A suprising number of people have just traded their vehicles because of the rediculious cut of repairing/replacing the transmission.

Call a GM dealer and give them yoru VIN and ask them to check to see if your vehicle has the VTi transmission.
