Engine Performance problem
1980 International Scout 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual 144000 miles

Thanks in advance for reading. The time has come where I need to swap out my 1980's 4Cyl 196 engine w/the manual transmission. Time is short for me in the summer, so the easy route would be a like kind engine swap, but are there any other reasonable options in the V-6 or V-8 powerplants that could be used with minimal work, other than motor mounts? Any ideas and experience is greatly appreciated.
