2000 Infiniti I30 I30 won't start & smells like burning

2000 Infiniti I30 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic
This morning I had to pump my gas peddle to get the car to start now this afternoon it won't & it smells like it is burning. The battery & alternator are new this year. If it was just the start why the smell?
