2005 Infiniti G35 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 122000 miles

i have an in dash navigation system. press the button on the top and the screen pops up from the dashboard. when i press this button, it pops up but returns immediately. it does not stop and allow me to prompt the system to begin. i have checked the fuses and they 'seem' fine. nothing else appears to be malfunctioning on the dashboard, lights, compass, clock, etc.

what may be causing this and how would i go about having this work properly?
