2005 Hyundai XG350 left rear brake light will only light up

2005 Hyundai XG350 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 45000 miles
The left lrear lights works ok except for when you do not have the headlights on at which point depressing the brake pedal the left rear light will not come on; other than that they function ok.
