2000 Hyundai Trajet 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 89000 miles

Hi hope you can help me ? Recently my alternator was over charging and blowing fuses and bulbs Ive nopw changed the offending item and the car now starts runs for around 5 seconds and dies just before i changed the alternator this happened once. what I really would like to know is could the over charging of melted somthing or blown the ecu or fuel pump or maybe if theres a common fault with these cars after this has happened ???? Please help me Im at my wits end with it and am debating calling the scrap man to take the thing away please helpppppppp many thanks garry
