Speedometer failure

1997 Hyundai Tiburon 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 100000 miles
The speedometer on my 1997 Hyundai Tiburon FX has started to fail. The problem began after I wheel-spun the car to avoid an accident. After that is dropped to zero and stayed there. Occasionally it works fine after re-calibrating but most times it either doesn't work at all or it only workes when I put the car's lights on. The clock in the vehicle displays similar behaviour although not at the same time- flickering, not working and then working fine. I have cleaned the speedo sensor connection and wiggled the wires around to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated!
