See If you blew a fuse in fuse box under hood ign 2 we don't have that vehicle in U.S. Also if you disconnected battery try resetting your anti theft look online if you don'thave a manual.

A mechanic alleged that the fuel pump was grounded. However, after changing the fuel pump, it cranks but will not start.

We have checked the line going to the injector for presence of fuel, and there was fuel, but I noticed that the pressure is not strong.

The mechanic cleaned the crankcase sensor, but yet, it will not start.

It sounds like the fuel pump is not working correctly. did he use an OEM replacement? Will the engine run on starting fluid? Also we should run the codes to see what comes up. here are two guides to help get us started:

and

Please run down these guides and report back.

Ken,

Thank you very much for your very meaningful, well explained and complete provision of helpful guides and information. Yesterday, I sought the assistance of a duly licensed mechanic and assisted by a (computer box/ECU) technician which used two (2) kinds of instruments separately (probably an OBD II Scanner and the other is an OBD II programmable scanner).

The problem which they relayed was that:

1. In turning the key to "ON" position, the "Check Engine" warning should flash momentarily and goes out in few seconds. In my car's case, the "Check Engine" emblem does not show up.

2. After doing several procedures, they claimed that there is power going into the ECU, but no power is coming out, hence, no signal or code could be retrieved. They explained that because of the "absence of power coming out of the ECU, all the systems of the car will not function.

These lead them to the idea that the problem might be the computer box, itself. They detached the ECU, checked for any burnt portions or parts but found nothing though.

I am very hopeful to receive more of your very enlightening ideas.

Thank you very much and more power!

Sir:

May I give you this information which may be helpful to you in the future. The first mechanic/driver (who lacks proper knowledge, I suppose) who installed the fuel pump (original, with seal and sticker bought from an authorized dealer) tested the injectors' power supply using a test light directly connected to the 12V battery,

According to the mechanic and the technician, the power might have crept upwards to the ECU, supplying over voltage (12V or maybe higher since I steadily use a voltmeter in my car and it always register 13+ volts) and causing some of its minute parts to bust, hence, corrupting the entire ECU unit.

Black smoke means there's too much or unburned fuel most commonly caused by a dirty air filter. Injectors stuck open dumping to much fuel also causes this

Yes, that is true. Too many voltage due to a faulty alternator will cause this issue. Let me know what happens.

Sir:

It was proven. The ECU was really defective. After final evaluation by the ECU technician, he directed me to buy a new ECU. Luckily, one item bearing the same Part Number was available at a local dealer here (Philippines) although the same was not a genuine part but a replacement (Mobis, made in Korea).

After installation, just a single crack made the engine running continuously which means, that the original (old) ECU was not really working.

However, theCheck Engine sign is blinking, which, according to the technician, it requires me to bring the car to a Hyubdai Service Center in order to reprogram the Vehicle Identification/Information and the blinking sign will be automatically resolved.

I hope everything will be resolved soon. Thank you for your useful and informative ideas. More power!

Our Hyundai Starex, (actually Jac Refine, it was bought in Beijing) has been having trouble since summer 2008 with occasionally not starting when warm. It needs to be driven for a bit, then try to start it within about 30 min. Of stopping. In the past it only did this in summer, but I've had trouble several times this winter. I don't speak Chinese so I haven't been handling the repairs--I know several things have been tried and seem to make a difference for awhile, but then it begins again. I'm getting tired of being told to just take my chances, nothing can be done. At a minimum, I would like info if this is likely to ever leave me completely stranded--neither 25 degrees or 95 degrees would be fun to get stuck.

Check fuel pressure when the problem is occurring. It sounds like it may be either vapor lock or a weak fuel pump.
