2002 Hyundai Santa Fe 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

recently purchased a 2002 santa fe with only 67,000 miles. am having a high rpm problem when vehicle is in park. it will sit and idle at 2200 rpm. found a post on this site which steered me to replace the temp sensor. however, it did not cure the problem. is there a break in period when replacing electrical parts?
