Hyundai Other Repair Question

Hyundai and not moving when i press the gas
I have a 99 hyundai sonata with 66,000 miles that seems to choke or get sluggish when i press on the gas. Usually the engine light comes soon after..the engine light will go out after a few days and the sluggish feeling comes and goes. what do you think it is?
