2000 Hyundai Elantra gls
My elantra has 86000 miles, timing belt replaced 20000 miles ago. The serpentine belt broke or fell of while driving, battery light came on car overheated. unsafe circumstances prohibited me from stopping as soon as battery light came on (middle of bridge, rain storm major hiway, 4yr old in back car seat) I had to drive about 5 miles to get to a safe place to pull over. By this time engine had overheated and car shut off. Dealer says engine has no compression, they want to open up engine/timing belt Etc. Engine/powertrain is still under warranty. Obviously this engine got fried!!. This engine is reaching the end of the warranty, should I push for engine replacement or take the dealers word if they want ro fix it!!.
