I have a 2003 hyundai with 50,000 mi. Purchased last week. No owners manuel or literature came with it. When I put fuel in it it takes approx. 5 minutes to put 9 gallons in. The nozzle keeps shutting off. So I can only fill it slowely. I noticed the fuel neck (reciever) does not have any vent holes. Should I drill vent holes into it, or bring it to the dealer?

Hello,

This issue typically happens when the fuel tank does not get vented properly as the fuel gets added. This creates a bottle neck affect and takes a very long time to fill up.
This issue is due to a clogged EVAP charcoal canister or a faulty vent valve.
Either of these will keep the fuel tank from venting.

Many times, these types of issues will trigger the check engine light. Is the check engine light illuminated? If so, scanning retrieving the code(s) can help with the diagnostics.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
