2002 Hyundai Accent Fuel Filter

2002 Hyundai Accent 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 48,000 miles
Replacing the Fuel Filter at 42 months and 84 months is recommended in my Owner's Manual. But none of the auto shops (2 Hyundai Dealers and 2 other shops) have EVER replaced the Fuel Filter. What's up? Is it not necessary in a 2002 Hyundai Accent GS or have they all just ignored it for the past 6 years I've owned the car?
