how does the light switch come out?

Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. Wait a few minutes for the airbag system to discharge.
Remove the steering column opening cover.
From underneath and behind the instrument panel, push up on the lower clip on headlamp switch then wiggle it down and out of instrument panel.
Disconnect the headlamp switch electrical connector.
