2004 Honda S2000 Whining when in gear

2004 Honda S2000 Manual 70,000 miles
Yesterday morning I pressed the button to start the car and wouldn't start (I live in Florida so it wasn't due to cold weather). Finally got it going and then took to Advance Auto to check battery. I purchased an Optima battery 3 years ago and when tested yesterday, it said to replace. I had them recharge. This appears to have stopped the starting problem, but recently I'm hearing a faint whining from under the hood when the car is in first or second gear. Could something be draining my battery? Guy at the store said that battery should have laster at least 4 years. Also, he said my Alternator is ok. Any suggestions? THANK YOU!
