2006 Honda Ridgeline towing performance

Engine Performance problem
2006 Honda Ridgeline 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 24,ooo miles

We just bought the ridgeline for going on the beach, then decided to go camping. Our camper is almost 5000 pounds when loaded, the most that the manufacturer recommends to tow. On the first trip, it towed really well, up and down hills, but the gas mileage was terrible.

How can we get better mileage, I have ordered a cold air kit for the ridgeline, and am thinking of having the chip reprogramed.

We would buy a lighter trailer if it had the features and prices that we wanted.

If you are towing I don't think you will get good gas mileage even if you put a cold air intake or reprogrammed the ecm.
