2005 Honda Pilot Towing a pop-up travel trailer
Suspension problem
2005 Honda Pilot 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 102,00 miles
We just purchased a pop-up travel trailer, which weights about 3,000 pounds, well within the towing capacity of our Pilot. However, when we hook it up, the rear end of the Pilot seems to drop too much. We have received differing recommendations:
1) install heavy duty shocks on the rear (or front and rear) of the Pilot, which we understand would make the vehicle ride rough all of the time)
2) install air shocks on the rear (which we understand would still ride rough), or
3) use a weight equilizer hitch (which Honda does not recommend, for reasons not clear to us).
What would you recommend?
Thanks. Mark Peterson
